Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
Holy Cross Catholic MAC SCITT welcomes and celebrates diversity within our community of staff and trainee teachers.
We expect all participants in our community to foster an environment of respect, dignity and inclusion in which everyone can thrive.
The SCITT acknowledges that embracing and valuing diversity is fundamental to securing equality of opportunity for all.
You can read more about our commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in our EDI policy, available here:
We work to support all our potential trainees' access to teacher training throughout the process of applying, interviewing, and training.
Support in application
-
On our School Experience Days and Information Evenings, as well as through 121 phone calls and emails, we can talk to you about your specific needs and how these can be supported through application and beyond.
-
When you apply, you will be asked if you need help becoming a teacher. Here, you can include information that will help the recruitment team put appropriate support for you in place.
Support in interview
-
Interviews may be online or in person. Before an interview, your interviewers can see any information you provided on your application about support you might need in an interview.
- If you have questions or worries about the interview, contact the team! Everyone on the team is friendly and welcoming and wants to support you to do well. You can email or call us to discuss any worries you have.
- At the end of the interview, you will be given an opportunity to talk about any support you think you might need to be successful in the training year. This won’t affect the outcome of your interview, but will help us to make sure support is in place.
Support in training
- If you have a medical need, you will be able to share this through a pre-ITT questionnaire, which will enable dialogue to make sure your health needs are met where possible
- All trainees and staff involved in the SCITT will be given equal, fair and appropriate access to training to enable them to progress. Support will be tailored to individuals.
- The SCITT will seek to identify and remove any access barriers where possible.
- Trainees and staff engage in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion training as part of the training programme.
